Publishing and personalities dominate over traditions and lineages. And where
lineages exist, they seem rooted in inflexible rules and dogma. This has given rise
to the need to claim ownership of teachings and symbols. Copyrights have
become the rule of the day; and the need to keep perpetual students the norm as
traditions fail to generate teachers, and genuine spiritual masters, who can stand
the heat of public pressure to demonstrate the power of the teachings.
